Tyron Krost, Aussie Millions champ, joins Team PartyPoker

Tyron Krost Team PartyPokerI suppose it’s any serious poker player’s dream to get a sponsorship, and I can’t think of a better site to represent than Partypoker.

From speaking to all levels of management, it’s clear to see that the site is moving in the right direction. I feel incredibly lucky to be a member of Team PartyPoker, and offered the chance to help make Partypoker one of the best places to play online.

Totally crazy experience and something which will never seem real

A little about me; I began playing poker when I was 18 years old with friends during school. Within a few months, I deposited $50 onto Partypoker and built my bankroll playing limit hold-em, moving up from 1/2 to 5/10.

After a couple years, I got a bit bored of limit cash games and began dabbling in some multi-table tournaments. I was pretty lucky straight away, loved the competitiveness of them and quickly began playing tournaments almost exclusively.

Along the way I’ve cashed a couple live events, including the 2008 WSOP main event where I finished 249th, but I’ve played nearly all of my poker online.

Winning the Aussie Millions this year was a totally crazy experience and something which will never seem real. I wasn’t planning on heading to Melbourne, and entered a $640 satellite on Partypoker at the last minute on a whim. I won my seat without too much trouble and had a couple months to look forward to it. I took my younger brother with me and we had an awesome time watching the tennis and hanging out (I think being relaxed without any expectations helped a lot).

Took revenge on Gus Hansen who knocked me out of WSOP

I cruised for much of the first day before losing a big pot near session’s end which took me to about 5k of the 20k starting stack. Day 2 was a real battle, but somehow I emerged relatively unscathed with a slightly below average stack. Early on Day 3 the money bubble burst and from then on I’d like to say it was smooth sailing – but poker never is!

I sucked out a couple of times, took revenge on Gus Hansen who knocked me out of the 2008 WSOP main event, played against some of the best of the online world, won my fair share of coin-flips, dealt with ice-cold room temperatures in the Crown Casino poker room and hellishly hot temperatures under the TV studio lights, yet somehow when all the dust settled they were handing me an oversized novelty check with six uneven, yet remarkably beautiful, zeroes permanently marked onto it.
