WPT Venice Grand Prix Live Updates: Final Table

00:01 Rinat Bogdanov Wins WPT Venice Grand Prix Main Event (€229,800) and Rinat Bogdanov calls holding [6c][4c]. Our final flop of the WPT Venice Grand Prix is [Qh][7d][4d] and Bogdanov check-calls a 60,000 Longobardi c-bet. On the turn, Bogdanov hits two pair when the [6s] comes down from the sky. Bogdanov plays it cool, once more, and it is another check-call, this time for 240,000. On the river we see the [4s] and Bogdanov remains composed and checks for a third and final time. Longobardi bets 300,000 and Bogdanov cannot contain his excitement. A smirk comes over his face as he moved all-in. ...

Mike Sexton’s WSOP Main Event advice

Mike Sexton and the rest of Team PartyPoker held a poker seminar at WSOP 2010 in front of a large audience of PartyPoker qualifiers. Mike gave some advice to the players so here is the full video so even our 2011 qualifiers can be better prepared: Don't be concerned by the size of the tournament Be focused on the table you are playing at Beat the table you are sitting at and you will advance to the next day Don't worry about chip counts - if you have average chips you are in great shape Play conservative early on when blinds are very small Qualify to ...

Tony G Dominates Big Game V

After 49 hours (they snuck in an extra hour on the end) of cash game fun and frolics, it's Tony G who has emerged as the winner of the Big Game V, the PartyPoker sponsored pro leaving Dusk Till Dawn with a spring in his step and £150,450 in his pocket. Also shining was Jennifer Tilly, underrated by some, but proving this weekend that she's a tigress of the felt with impressive earnings of £66,925. At the other end of the spectrum, DTD Head Honcho Rob Yong (thanks for having us!) suffered the biggest deficit with a very round £50,000 loss, whilst ...

Francesco Totti on Lady Gaga, Abramovich, Torres and loyalty in football

After flying from Melbourne – Sydney then Hong Kong to London I eventually landed in Venice for the WPT. One of my first missions? An audience with Francesco Totti, Italian football legend – a Roma hero – a man who can walk on water which is very handy when you are in Venice waiting for a water taxi. Totti is like David Beckham in Italy, the place went off when he came in – he had an entourage bigger than P Diddy. I wanted to talk about poker, I wanted to pass on a message from Tony G that he was the real ...

Quads over Quads – A Jaw-Dropping Hand

In five years of blogging, never have I encountered a hand as jaw-dropping as this one, but the final of the PartyPoker's World Poker Open has brought a truly remarkable hand that will leave poker fans aghast on the small screen. Watch the Quads Over Quads video with comments from Andrew Robl, Toby Lewis and also Mike Sexton and Jesse May who were in the commentary box: Poker's a tough ol' game that requires tough skin, but Robl's going to need a layer of leather to absorb that one as it'll pray on his mind for a long, long time. Everyone who ...

Phil Hellmuth: Latest entry to a poker tournament in history

Day three action of the WPT Bellagio Cup is underway. 353 players have registered for the Bellagio Cup this year, a big success! Last year less than 300 players played this $10,000 event. Very interesting fact about this WPT event is that the deadline for player registration has been extended through the 1st level of Day 3 (1:30pm Tuesday 13th July) to accomodate WSOP Main Event bustouts. Phil always late but surely not this late? Phil Hellmuth announced yesterday via his Twitter account that he will be making his appearance at the last possible moment. This will make it the latest entry to ...

Bellagio Cup VI Main Event and WPT Royal Flush Girls

Bellagio Cup VI WPT Main Event is underway. Some of the big names playing today are Annette Obrested, Jennifer Tilly, Erick Lindgren, Joe Hachem, Olivier Busquet, Liv Boeree, Scott Montgomery, Faraz Jaka, Justin Bonomo and Isaac Haxton. Jennifer Tilly beat 90 players in the Bellagio Cup VI Event #23 $5,000 + $180 tournament. She collected $124,455 and is definitely feeling up for another win here at the Main Event. Couple of PartyPoker's online qualifiers are playing as well - Roy Wullschleger and Phyllis Fields. The brand new WPT Royal Flush Girls The tournament went underway just as the World Cup final between Spain and Netherlands was played so a ...

Jaime Alguersuari: On poker, Formula 1, and girls

Jaime Alguersuari was present at the WPT Spanish Championship 2010 in Barcelona and we sat down with him for a talk on poker, Formula 1, and girls. You have joined the PartyPoker stable of players alongside Giancarlo Fisichella, how do you compare as a player? I only met Giancarlo for the first time last year - I know he is great poker player as well as legend in F1. I haven’t played him yet and would really like too. I don’t mind, I will play him in a tournament but how about a heads-up match for charity? I am not going pretend ...

Kara Scott: Ode to the Poker Bloggers

There is a constant stream of messages right now on Twitter and Facebook from poker journalists who are counting down the days until their Vegas marathon begins. You can tell how long they've been making the yearly pilgrimage to our mecca of all things gambling by the tone of their messages. They run the gamut from pure exhilarated excitement to wary weariness. Or maybe that should be weary wariness. Perhaps I should leave it to them to find the appropriately poetic phrases; it is their job after all. One of the toughest gigs And what a job. I think the bloggers in Vegas during ...

Tony G’s open letter to Phil Hellmuth

I have just got hold of this disturbing picture of Phil Hellmuth from the WPT  Bay 101 Shooting Star in San Jose. He made the final table, was second in chips but bust first – finishing sixth. Though he’s probably the player I reserve my bike for the most, I was secretly willing him on to win this one in his own backyard – thus securing a WPT title for the very first time after making four final tables. I am worried about his mental health Unlike the Premier League, where we saw trash talking and hysterics when he busted, Phil simply ...
