Skill is what counts. Luck can help, but ability wins in the long run. This week’s winner of our $300K Guaranteed Sunday certainly knew what he was doing in order to take home a $48,000 top prize.

There were 1,416 others in the tournament that player IDonkOutYou busted to take his first prize. Player makido111 took home a healthy $45,000 and proved that coming second doesn’t make you a donkey…and can actually make you a lot of money.

Inter Milan fan takes home $16,605

Is anything as important as your team? Probably not, but winning a healthy slice of cash must come close. Player Nerazurrii must be an Inter Milan supporter as that’s what the team are known as in Italy, after their black (nero) and blue (azurri) striped shirts.

We’ve made online poker history! PartyPoker’s popular Bad Beat Jackpot has been smashed after reaching a stunning world record  of $1,013,381. The magical figure - the first time a bad beat jackpot has shot through the $1 million mark - was shared by players battling it out in a .50/1 limit hold’em game at our jackpot cash tables.

And what a hand it was - quad nines beaten by a royal flush! Our bad beat jackpot pays out if quad eights or better are defeated, so player judith75 picked up the huge $354,683.57 for losing with quads, while player Hiyaall was given $177,341.79 (plus the $24 for winning the pot!) for winning with the best possible hand in poker.

Everyone else at the table - bucktooth1, wisard333, pelusin111, DismasX, fkjnyh, hc8601, chimbila007 and ShoulderGuy - picked up $22,167.72 just for sharing the same felt. To add to the drama of the hand, ShoulderGuy was third with a full house of kings over nines!

The jackpot capped an end to a brilliant week at PartyPoker, as we just celebrated our seventh birthday with a monster Birthday Million tournament on Sunday.

We guaranteed a $1 million prize pool, but such was the interest from our brilliant players that the pool shot through the million gate and ended up at $1,245,800. Player TherookieQQ9 took first place, pocketing a very tasty  $233,775 for his efforts.

PartyPoker.com has just paid out its biggest-ever Bad Beat Jackpot – almost $700,000 divided between six ecstatic players.

And the stakes? A $44 pot on one of our $0.10/$0.25 NL Hold’em tables to make this story even more amazing.

EBponpogyKT is the lucky loser in question, collecting a staggering $332,306.19 when his four-of-a-kind queens ended up second best to a straight flush on Sunday (July 27) just after 17:00 ET.

ghostridah1 received $166,153.10 for actually winning the hand, while players Lievaai84, Priest8, WheelsteR and Shapatesh all collected $41,538.28 simply for being sat at the right table at the right time.

Here’s the full story of the hand:

EBponpogyKT held Kc-Qd pre-flop while ghostridah1 picked up 10s-Js. Both liked what they saw and ghostridah1 called the $1 bet. Everyone else folded.

The flop of Qh-Ks-Qs gave EBponpogyKT control, completing a full house. ghostridah1, though, was on a straight flush draw and felt confident enough to call the $1.50 bet. The turn completely flipped things around, with the 9s securing ghostridah1’s straight flush and
making it an easy decision to trap call the $3 put in by his opponent.

But then the card to make PartyPoker.com history. Qc on the river gave EBponpogyKT four of a kind and what he thinks is the winning hand. EBponpogyKT is happy to go all in when his $6 bet is raised to $19 - and he discovers to his horror that he’s lost the hand. But then it dawns that he’s scooped the jackpot and now has one of the greatest bad beat stories ever to tell – and $332,306.19 extra in his account.
