Kara Scott: High Stakes Poker Action and NBC HU

Posted by Kara Scott in Kara Scott on March 1, 2010

Kara Scott High Stakes Poker

Kara Scott on High Stakes Poker TV show where she is the co-host and the NBC HU where she will play.

It’s been great to have some time to kick back and relax after the madness of the last few weeks.

I needed the time to catch up on stuff at home, remind my loved ones what I look like AND get back to playing online and preparing for the NBC HU Championships which are coming up very soon!

I’m glad the news is finally out so that I can say that I’ll be playing the NBC HU this year.

I’m really excited (obviously) and looking forward to it and am still a bit surprised that I’ve been invited.

I’ll be wearing Party Poker colours

I’ll be wearing Party Poker colours and hope to do you guys all proud! I’ve had a look at the full list of people who’ve been invited and depending on who I draw for the first round, it could be very interesting indeed. Pretty much every style of play looks covered plus there will be some online qualifiers to mix it up.

I’m looking forward to seeing the TV crew next week as well, as many of them are the same as the High Stakes Poker crew. I’ve been lucky to work with some stellar people both in the UK and the USA and catching up with them during my downtime is a luxury I don’t generally get.

Usually when we’re working I can’t go out for a drink in the evenings because I need to make sure my brain is fully functioning the next day. A tall order at the best of times.

High Stakes Poker – first poker TV I’d ever seen

Working on High Stakes Poker (HSP) was a great experience for me. It’s an iconic show for poker audiences and one that is dearly loved and closely guarded by its fans. When GSN approached me about coming on board, I could only say yes to getting involved in a show that was already so important to me.

It was the first poker TV I’d ever seen and I can still vividly recall my friend and poker mentor Nick Wealthall showing it to me. I was in awe of the players and the personalities involved then and I still am today. The more I get to work with these great players, the more they open up to me in interviews as well so it’s been a really great thing to see them in different venues and at different shows.

But… next time out I’ll actually be at the felt myself rather than interviewing the players. Kind of scary but I’m sure it’ll be great fun. Like with anything, I can only do my best and let the chips fall where they may!

Kara Scott co-hosts High Stakes Poker alongside Gabe Kaplan while the biggest poker stars play the biggest cash game. Gus Hansen, Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Barry Greenstein and many more are involved.
