WSOP Day 6: McManus takes on Hellmuth
By Simon Young
It’s Day 6 (or ten if you include all the Day 1s and both Day 2s). Just 79 players remain in the World Series of Poker Main Event, and PartyPoker has one qualifier still in with a great shout of making some huge money.
James McManus, from Dublin in Ireland, is already guaranteed at least $77,200, but with 2,434,000 chips, he’s in a healthy position. It could have been a million more, but he lost a huge pot late last night with Q-10 suited when he re-raised all in to try and push an opponent with J-J off the hand.
On James’ starting table today is a certain Phil Hellmuth, who is chasing a record 12th bracelet with 721,000 chips. But the self-proclaimed “Poker Brat” will not be seated at the start of play - he got a one-orbit penalty late last night for throwing a huge tantrum on the feature table.
