WSOP Day 4: PartyPoker’s Irish qualifiers through to Day 5

Such has been the pace of bust outs today – we’re down to 189 from the 474 starters – that tournament bosses called it a night at 11pm, a full two-our level and 38 minutes ahead of schedule.

PartyPoker’s remaining two qualifiers both now progress to Day 5 and are guaranteed a payday of at least $38,600. But they’ll be looking to take much more than that back to Ireland.

James McManus has a huge 1,761,000 in chips, putting him safely in the top ten, thanks largely to a huge pot before the dinner break which is described in the post below. “I’ve enjoyed it – it’s been quite a day,” he said.

Stephen Kenna, who like James is from Dublin, is on 495,000 and a bit below the room average. He’d been up to just under one million at one stage, but then got caught in a few tricky spots – including making a monster laydown of kings pre-flop that probably saved his tournament life. “I’m very happy – it could have been a lot worse,” he said.
