Have you lost with four 10’s before?

No, I haven’t.

How did it feel at the time – did you know you had won?

After the river I realized my opponent might have a better hand. I went all-in, he called right away and then everything happened really fast. The message appeared on the screen, I opened my account and had almost $500 000. Indescribable!

Is this the worst bad beat you have had?

No.

Do you think you can take a bad beat or do you blow up?

I can take one or two bead beats a day. Then I blow up.

Is it your biggest win – if not what is?

This is definitely my biggest win.

What do you say to hearing that you have just won the record Bad Beat Jackpot!?

I was shocked at first. Then started jumping around. I was extremely happy.

What are your online/live poker plans for coming months?

I don’t have plans to change my poker practice especially.

What are you going to do with the money!

I will buy iPad2, leather couch, whiskey and lot of other things, that people don’t necessarily need.

Do you normally choose to play on BBJ tables – if so why?

I love playing at the jackpot tables, because it is a little like playing the lottery. If you play at higher stakes, the expected value is higher. I will continue playing on these tables from now on.

FriendlyFrog, also known as Erik, said, ‘Normally a pot of maybe $30 is considered a fairly large in my games. To win more than $276,000 is something I haven’t even dreamed about.

‘My heart nearly stopped when the hand ended; it was one big surprise. I just walked around the house for a while before contacting your lovely support staff to confirm my winnings. I could hardly speak a word when I got the confirmation.’

Erik’s payday arrived when his four jacks lost out to player Rolf56111’s four aces.

Erik explained, ‘I flopped four of a kind jacks with J-10-J on the board. I checked the flop as did the other player in the hand. And ace came on turn and we both checked again. Another ace on river and my opponent made a small bet. I raised to get something from my hand, he re-raised and I went all-in. I was surprised to see I had actually lost the hand and did not think of the jackpot until I noticed the pop-up window.’

Now he’s got all that extra cash, what will Erik be spending it on? Our very lucky loser said, ‘I will hopefully use the winnings wisely. We are planning to get a bigger place to live and this makes that a bit easier. I will also treat myself to a new guitar.’

We softened someone else’s bad beat this weekend when our Bad Beat Jackpot was hit by player Allmoon.

Our lucky loser became $104,806 richer when he lost out to KSENIA666, who received $52,403 from the payout. Black2210 and freak7979 were also celebrating as they both pocketed $26,201 just for being sat at the table.

We’ve made online poker history! PartyPoker’s popular Bad Beat Jackpot has been smashed after reaching a stunning world record  of $1,013,381. The magical figure – the first time a bad beat jackpot has shot through the $1 million mark – was shared by players battling it out in a .50/1 limit hold’em game at our jackpot cash tables.

And what a hand it was – quad nines beaten by a royal flush! Our bad beat jackpot pays out if quad eights or better are defeated, so player judith75 picked up the huge $354,683.57 for losing with quads, while player Hiyaall was given $177,341.79 (plus the $24 for winning the pot!) for winning with the best possible hand in poker.

Everyone else at the table – bucktooth1, wisard333, pelusin111, DismasX, fkjnyh, hc8601, chimbila007 and ShoulderGuy – picked up $22,167.72 just for sharing the same felt. To add to the drama of the hand, ShoulderGuy was third with a full house of kings over nines!

Here’s the full story of the hand:

EBponpogyKT held Kc-Qd pre-flop while ghostridah1 picked up 10s-Js. Both liked what they saw and ghostridah1 called the $1 bet. Everyone else folded.

The flop of Qh-Ks-Qs gave EBponpogyKT control, completing a full house. ghostridah1, though, was on a straight flush draw and felt confident enough to call the $1.50 bet. The turn completely flipped things around, with the 9s securing ghostridah1’s straight flush and
making it an easy decision to trap call the $3 put in by his opponent.

But then the card to make PartyPoker.com history. Qc on the river gave EBponpogyKT four of a kind and what he thinks is the winning hand. EBponpogyKT is happy to go all in when his $6 bet is raised to $19 – and he discovers to his horror that he’s lost the hand. But then it dawns that he’s scooped the jackpot and now has one of the greatest bad beat stories ever to tell – and $332,306.19 extra in his account.

PartyPoker player danne76 was looking forward to a nice double up on his .10c/.25c cash table after flopping a straight flush. His joy turned to despair, however, when FrankHRO1972 amazingly made a bigger straight flush on the turn.

Just as frustrated danne76, who started the hand with $8.87, was thinking about reloading, something quite remarkable happened: The group of six had been playing on a PartyPoker jackpot cash table, and straight flush over straight flush scooped the Bad Beat Jackpot.

His bad beat, which started with just a 25 cent bet, won him an incredible $168,408.24! FrankHRO1972 got $84,204.12 for winning the bad beat hand (a little more than the $16.69 pot!), and everyone else at the table who got out of the way – cbeetje, rubinlars, checkjack77, and Diebmann, pocketed $21,051.03 just for being there.

Here’s what happened. danne76 limped in for 25 cents with 6-8 spades, then called when FrankHRO1972 raised it to 50 cents with his J-Q spades. Everyone else folded to see the 9-7-10 all spades flop, givining danne76 the nuts with his straight flush. He cheekily checked and was somewhat chuffed when Frank bet out $4.25 – insta-call. When the turn came K of spades, making FrankHRO1972 the higher straight flush, they both checked thinking they were trapping each other.

Finally danne76 moved all in for his last $4.12 on the meaningless 5 of clubs river, naturally called by FrankHRO1972. That’s when everything went bananas and the huge jackpot kicked in.
