Read how Stewart broke his toe hurrying to the bathroom while playing a final table of an online poker tournament.

It’s been a crazy few weeks. I have been on a good run lately online cashing in quiet a few events, final tabling a heap and even managing a few wins. I was deep in one of the Majors on Mad Monday, in fact down to the last three. I was in a very comfortable second in chips with 1.2 million, the chip leader had approximately 1.5 Million. This spot was great compared to coming to the table in about eighth but I had other thing on my mind!

Bubble was about to burst

I had been busting to go to the toilet for about 45 minutes and bubble was about to burst and I am not talking poker but nevertheless I kept getting into hands. Just so I couldn’t go for a slash, blinds were getting crazy 5000 / 10000 and three handed there were too many sweet spots to exploit.

Finally I got my break, bolting for the toilet I smash my toes into a solid door I had smartly installed to block noise (from my lovely baby). Ouch man it hurt so bad I got to the toilet and had to compose myself for 20 seconds before I could even fathom the concept of draining the lizard.

Screaming as I was running back to my station as I was about to time amount when the missus says to me “harden up mate you have such a low threshold of pain”. Damn, I didn’t even have time to defend myself before I looked up at Ace 3 suited. I was in the small blind, made it 150k, the Villain made it 300. I shipped in the whole stack, he obliged by calling and throwing over Ace 9 off. There was no magical three from the poker gods and that was it GG.

Visit to a doctor

I couldn’t sleep all night constantly thinking how bad I had played the hand jamming with 50 bbs and I came to the conclusion that I couldn’t think properly because of that blooming toe. To make matters worse, of course the dog runs into my foot and wifey gives it a gentle tap to see if I am for real argghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pain killer time.

Ironically a week later after walking god knows how many kilometers while doing media duties in Sydney I finally decided to go to a hospital. I hate those places, I arrive on mandatory tilt to sit there for 3 hours to be told “sorry mate it’s broken and there is not anything we can do, go home and rest up cobber”.

Basically I wasted my time so an expert of 7 years study could tell me something I already knew. My foot hurt, ah well at least I am running good online huh!

Defending the AussieMillions title

I’m getting pretty pumped to defend my AussieMillions title In January and between now and then I’m just going to keep grinding out the hours online to try and get back in the top ten in Australia. I am super keen to win the major at PartyPoker.com but if all else fails catch me at 1/2 tables.

I’ll be grinding out the 6max to freshen up my short handed game before I hit the Crown, who finally came through with some free accommodation. George practically had every staff member there on speed dial for 6 months LOL That freak never quits YAY! I wish sometime he took me off speeddial. Anyways, that’s another day another dollar.

Next time you hear that a couple of thugs broke the champs toe for an extortion bid just remember I kicked my toe on the way to the thunder house! Hahahahahah

AussieMillions is coming up later this month. We are sending 27 PartyPoker players there. See stories of our winners here and here plus see how a visit from father almost put the $15,00 AussieMillion package in jeopardy plus how late night Norwegian poker ended up with a PartyPoker sponsored trip to Australia.

Positioned just between Sydney and Canberra, Goulburn is mainly known for its maximum security prison. Today the prison takes the backseat when the NPL state final has managed to attract 562 action thirsty poker players to fight it out for the $31,500 prize pool with a $12,000 Aussie Millions package on top.

Personally I got a terrible start to the day. Summer dust storms in Australia have a tendency to impact air traffic and my flight to Sydney was 2 hours late. I finally managed to make it to Sydney and was picked up by PartyPoker’s Territorial Manager Henrik Nilsson.

Being late we immediately got on the road and started to go through the speech I’m supposed to do. I think I’m good with people one on one, but talking in front of an audience takes me out of my comfort zone.

I read my script to Henrik and spent the rest of the drive practicing my speech, in the end I think it came out ok. I have been so fortunate winning the Aussie Millions so I wanted to give something back to the poker community and decided at the last minute to give any player that signs up through my account within the next 48 hours a $25 free no deposit bonus.

Shuffle Up And Deal

After a quick catch up with organiser Simon Watts and NPL CEO Richard O’Neill I got right into the poker action playing the first tourney with a $70 bounty on my head. This is different from what I’m used to, it’s self dealt and everyone is trying to take you out. For me, playing a lot online and with dealers playing live, I was nervous dealing and managed a misdeal the first two times. My cards were cold and I spent the first 30 min folding.

The only hand I played was with 9-10 off. Everyone limped and I completed in the small blind, big blind checks. Flop A53 rainbow and I decide to lead out with 550 bet into a 300 pot! (?). This sounds silly but truth to be told I mixed up the colours of the chips and got it wrong. I was supposed to bet 150 which make sense to anyone who knows anything about poker. People started giggling at my rookie mistake but the bet got the job done. This is quality poker folks!

Obama Eat Your Heart Out

After an hour it’s time for the first break and I’m entering the stage to deliver my speech, applause and 562 pairs of eyes are looking at me. I finish my speech and later found out that half the room couldn’t hear it due to the sound being too low. I think I did alright and feel like one step closer to a speech that will rival Obama. Well maybe not, but at least Kevin 07.

After the break I’m back in action. My cold streak continues and I’m starting to get frustrated. After been forced to fold a few hands I’m in desperate need to double up and fancy my chances on A2 of clubs from early position. The action gets folded around to the big blind that makes the call with Q8. Not too shabby, roughly 60/40 in my favour. Flop Q89 no clubs and I’m heading for the rails.

Last Hand Before the Rails

I’m comforting myself with a drink and exchange a few bad beat stories with the locals. I must say it’s great to be at a grassroots poker event like this. The action is good, the players are friendly and the atmosphere is more relaxed than the big pro tournaments.

The Party Girls Doing the Rounds

I will play my second tournament for the night and then go back to my room to prep myself for my own Stewart Scott Aussie Millions Highroller Invitational (quite a mouthful) online tourney on Party Poker tomorrow evening at 19:00. It’s a $270 buy in with a $12,000 GTD. This is important to me because all my Aussie poker mates will play it and I want to do well.
Over and out from Goulburn
Stewart Scott

The bounty on my head makes for an interesting dyamanic and I have enjoyed the challenge of trying to win my own bounty tournaments.

On Sunday 22nd there is a 250 buy in satellite with one package guaranteed to the Aussie Millions this also has a bounty which is a $640 ticket into the December 13 five package GTD tournamanent.

The guys at PartyPoker are offering two separate routes into the Aussie Millions, one for Australian and New Zealand players and one for the rest of the world.

This is purely so you won’t find yourself playing at 3 in the morning for the PartyPoker Aussie Millions package.

My next live event is the APPT Sydney which has some really juicy events including the $2700 six handed and also the $1650 PLO with second chance and the main event being a $6300 buy in with estimated prize pool in excess
of a million.

Hope to see you at the online qualifiers at PartyPoker.com and then inturn in Melbourne in January for the Aussie Millions

Good luck on the felt

There was a good turnout at Skycity for the APPT event including notables such a Lee final table Nelson, Raj Ramakritsin (who finished an unlucky 4th to me in the Aussie millions) and Tony Hachem.

The main event had starting stacks of 20k with a good structure. I hit the ground running chipping up to 30 k within the first 30 minutes then went card dead for a long period. My stack took a big hit when I made a call to a re raise shove with 88,the board counterfeited my pair and was beaten by A 10

I managed to double my way back to 30k by the 500/1k level when the action folded to me in last position I looked down at K 10 suited and made it 2300 to go, it folded to the guy on the button who had been running really well playing aggressive and had accumulated around 110k or so he made it 5100 and the size of the re raise and the dynamics I figured it was a good time for him to raise me light so I shoved and he snap calls with AA no help from the board and so it was GG Auckland and back home for me.

Good Luck on the felt

It really is amazing how much fun I get out of such everyday activities such as cooking and mowing the lawn etc.

I’m fairly sure that is because the lifestyle that full time poker generates is sorely lacking in stability and normallity or maybe i’m just turning into an old boring bastard.

Anyway its been great to be home catching up on some overdue surfing, I even played a few games of tennis and some very profitable hours on the PartyPoker.com 2/4 plo tables.

I also posted a 15th in Sundays 530$ buy-in 80k guaranteed high rollers. Today it’s goodbye Gods country and sunny blue skies as I head off to Auckland New Zealand to play the APPT.

Good Luck on the felt.

I flew in to Melbourne late Monday night dined at my favorite Greek restaurant Tsindo’s with an old friend and got ready for my assault on the Poker News Cup.

I chose six events the first was eagerly anticipated the Online players V the Live players and I was fortunate enough to be the captain of the live team. The event had a great dynamic lots of energy lots of fun as most of the players knew each other. Andrew Jeffries shipped the heads up battle for the onliners and Ben Savage took the overall title representing the live players scores were close 780 to 681 to the way of the Onliners.
Every body had a great time and we look forward to it becoming a regular feature on tournament circuit.

Event two was the PLO followed by the Tony G Bounty (they had 500 on my head). This was a great event for me (not only because I made it past the first break) but deep into the tourney I ended up with Tony G on my left … which made for a most interesting and entertaining 2 hours … and what a gentleman he is!!!

Unfortunately for me our battle was short lived after we ‘shoved in the dark’, blind Vs blind and there was no “7 from heaven” to get my K7 over the line Vs Tony’s KJ.

There was no love for me in the six-handed or the main event, but I look forward to tomorrow’s teams event where I partner up with my nemesis from the Aussie Millions, Raj Ramakrishnan!

On a final note … I had a great time at the Party Poker Players Party I was very nervous before my first speech and my friend/manager suggested after seeing me practice that some lubrication of the throat was definitely needed. I managed to stumble through my opening speech and I admit this is definitely part of my game that needs work.

Overall from a poker perspective this trip was a little disappointing but as always I had a great time in Melbourne and look forward to coming back to defend my title of the Aussie Millions in January 2010.

Keep a lookout for updates at www.stewartscott.com.au

Next stop is New Zealand APPT keep you posted

Good luck on the felt……………………….

Hi guys this is my first blog and I am very excited and honored to be announced as the official ambassador of Australia and New Zealand for Party Poker .

What a fantastic journey it has been for me from slaving in a hot kitchen to realizing my dream of being a full time sponsored Poker professional.

After playing my first ten dollar sit n go at Party Poker in 2004 which (seemed like only yesterday) and realizing some early success I really felt like I found my path in life ….the competition, the excitement, the adrenaline rush … was something I instantly fell in love with and after my first Final Table, “well that was enough”.

With the blessing understanding and support of my beautiful wife I threw down the Apron only months after my first game and commenced my apprenticeship on the grind.

I final tabled (and in fact came second ) in the first live tournament I played and in 2006 I won a satellite at Adelaide Sky Casino for a 30K package to the World Series.

After a very successful 2008 online I decided to take a shot at the most lucrative Tournament in the Southern hemisphere the …..Aussie Millions.

After 5, 12 hour days of solid grind and emotional highs and lows I was fortunate enough to outlast 681 people for a payday of AU$2 million … and become the first Australian to win the Aussie Millions.

My dream is now complete with the opportunity to represent the globally recognized brand, Party Poker.

I am excited about the future and I look forward to seeing you all on the virtual felt.
